Head Coach: Lindy Ruff
Lindy Ruff opens his seventh season behind the Sabres' bench and looks to continue adding to his very impressive
list of coaching accomplishments. He already is the Sabres' all-time winningest coach after recording a 5-2 victory over the
Philadelphia Flyers on Feb. 18, 2003.
In the past six seasons, Buffalo has amassed a 43-25-10-4 combined record for 100 points in games following
the trade deadline. Much of this success can be attributed to Ruff and his coaching staff, which has never allowed the players
to quit on a season regardless of their position in the standings. The Sabres have the seventh-best winning percentage (61.0
percent), are tied for third-most wins (43), and are tied for the third-most points (100) following the trade deadline over
the past six seasons. The other half of the equation is the deals made by GM Darcy Regier to bring in proven players for the
stretch run or players to help build the team for the immediate future. After acquiring Daniel Briere at the trade deadline
in 2003, the team went 5-2-1-1 to end the 2002-03 season. Read More
